I think that Obama's face pretty much sums this one up...

No comment on this mess....found this over at the most popular black blog ever.

So you consider yourself a fashionista huh?

Well, I hope you've been pronouncing your brands correctly. If not, then allow me to help...

I feel like this is the most important thing on the internet right now. Courtesy of the homies over at hypebeast.com.

Greetos. Seen the XXL?  Foxy and/or Jeezy's on the cover.  It's a need read, for the following reasons:
  • Brilliant piece on hipster rap [or as I like to call it, the house that Kanye built], citing everyone you know [Lupe, Cool Kids, Kid Sister, Kidz in the Hall], and some you might not [Wale, Mickey Factz, The Knux, Pacific Division].
  • Wale's Mixtape About Nothing was pieced, as well.  Got an XL in the Mixtape section.  Gave the links in an earlier entry, so if you're sleeping, go ahead and make that dream lucid.
  • Still reading this list, huh?  Yeah, just go ahead and buy it.
What haven't I done?  *light bulb*  Kicks!!

These are the Vans Plaid Pack.  As you can see, they're Vans...and they're plaid.  Left to right: the Zappato Del Marco, the Authentic, the Slip-on, and the Sk8-Hi.  The Sk8's look pretty gr8.
These are available at Proper.

Nike proudly presents the "Quilted Patent Pack".  All Dunks.  Titled for more than obvious reasons, the colors are inspired by the Olympic rings.  More pics, you say?

You can see the rings on the tongue tags.  Available at Leaders 1354.

Nike Asia presents the Chinese Ceramic Pack: Court Force Low, Trainer Dunk High.  Hmm...not sure if I'd rock them, but...dope nonetheless.

Dear, sweet tenderness.  David Z x Clarks Wallabee Metallic Pack.  Very nice, simply because it's a drastic step away from Clarks conservative colorways.  These won't be out for at least a month, though.

Vans' Mountain Edition High LX.  Waxed leather upper, to withstand autumn conditions.  Get them at Ripe.

Nike's Aged Leather Pack.  Both Court Force Lows.  Those red ones are dangerous:

Out later this year.

So...that's it for now.  Oh, all info and pics snagged from HighSnobiety.

Yet Another Reason Why Nas is Better than your favorite Emcee...

Paul Pierce has OFFICIALLY lost his mind...

When asked, "Is Kobe really the best player in the world?" Paulie responded, "I don't think Kobe is the best player. I'm the best player. There's a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don't cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself."

.....

NINJA ARE YOU SERIOUS? Now, let's clear up the air, I'm neither a Lakers nor a Kobe fan; But one thing for sure and two for certain, Kobe is DEFINITELY better than Pau-Pau and even if he wasn't, Paul Pierce STILL wouldn't be the best player in the world. C'MON Pau-Pau, the world? You? Damn, that would explain why you AREN'T on the Olympic team, or why you couldn't win a championship in the without Ray Allen or K.G., or even garner a playoff appearance or a even dream of making it past the 1st round for that matter.

Yea, muthafucka...this goes in the same category of silly regrettable shit said and done as such infamous lines such as, "Bobby Brown is the KANG of R&B," as well as, "Soulja Boy invites you to his Swag 18." Oh, and lest we forget this shit. Kudos to you good sir, Kudos...

N aka The Light Speed Warrior

I played in a band once...a rubber band, that is...

*gasp*  Got here...*wheeze*...as fast...*cough*...as I could.  *passes out*

*ahem*  Yeah, so...with Bouier dropping the upcoming Guitar Hero knowledge on you in an earlier post, I figured I'd mention the competition:

Still not psyched?  I'll continue.

What makes this one better than the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour, which also features drums, vocals, and bass guitar playability?  How about new instruments?  Peep the guitar:

Come on...you see the woodgrain, don't you?  I mean, faux, of course, but a nice touch, nonetheless.  Also the strum won't be as "squishy" as the first one [those who've played with it know what I mean], and the frets [still two sets, at both ends, the lower set for soloing] are quieter, and not so clicky.  Also, there's a built-in mic in the guitar, to help calibrate lag if needed.  But me no play the axe, so none of this is a major concern to me....

DRUMS ON DECK!!!

Yes, it looks like a wet dream, no? Pump the breaks, slightly: this is the premium drum set.  As you can see, it comes with cymbals, and a reinforced metal kick pedal, to endure club footed punishment.  Also, it can be used without the game as a standalone electronic drum kit.  Oh, and it costs $300.  Yeah.  The standard drum set that comes, umm...standard, looks pretty much like the old one, but the drums pads are velocity sensitive, softer and quieter [yes!], and has expansion slots for additional cymbals, like the ones you see above, only sold separately.  The kick pedal is reinforced with metal on this one, too.  I believe both the guitar and drum set from the first
Rock Band are backwards-compatible, though, so misers, worry not.

And...you're still not amazed, are  you?  *sigh*  Tough audience.  OK, then.  I bring you tracklisting info:

New Common Joints

Off of the highly anticipated album, and highly pushed back joint, Invincible Summer.

First one,

Announcement - Common

This joint is called Announcement and it is a slight dedication to none other than the late great Notorious B.I.G. Fresh indeed!

Second joint,

Universal Mind Control - Common

The original single that dropped called Universal Mind Control...fresh indeed. As you can see this entire CD is produced by the homies from VA aka The Neptunes.

Finally,

A live performance of a joint called Gladiator...the knock is definitely there.

Are trying to be nominated for an Oscar this year, huh?

They may just get it with this one. The story is, obviously, about a man who ages in reverse. It is adapted from an F.Scott Fitzgerald short story that shares the same name. You know, the guy who wrote The Great Gatsby. Act like you went to High School, sheesh. Anyway, this film is surely high up on my list of things to see this year, as it should be on yours.

Like, can I just LIVE at the movies? I'll pay rent...

More trailers on deck.  Behold:

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the sequel to the Clone Wars minisodes that were shown on Cartoon Network a few years back.  Like the minisodes, this movie takes place between episodes II & III.  Here's a extended clip:

August 15th for that. Peep the official:

www.starwars.com

Punisher: War Zone.  Oh, this is a red band trailer, meaning that the trailer ALONE is rated R.   No, I'm serious.  And from the looks of it, it already promises to be better than the first [two] Punisher movie[s].  December 5th for that one. Peep the official:

www.break.com/punisher

I remember reading in some magazine that the best kind of movie to see with a date is of the horror genre, because the fright time gets the female's hormones all aflutter.  So, with that in mind, take yo guh to see this:

Of course there's another one. Hate all you want [I know I have], but they bring exactly what's promised every time: graphic gore and I-can't-believe-I-didn't-think-of-it plot twists. October 24th for that. Peep the official:

www.saw5.com

After dropping WALL-E on us [if you haven't seen that yet, calmly euthanize yourself], Pixar wastes no time:

May 29, 2009. That's literally all I know. Peep the official, though:

www.pixar.com

One more:

Appears interesting.  A little hokey, with the subplot of potential love and such [watch again if you didn't peep], but still could be decent.  Is it just me, or is that whenever you have a movie like this [caper/heist/hitting a lick] there's always one guy in the scheme referred to only by his nationality.  "The Belgian", "The Russian", "The Sphinx". [Bad example?]  In any event, that one also drops October 24th.

That's all for now.

My favorite color? Indie, GO!!!

So...I'm sure you, or *ahem* your younger sibling has seen Nickelodeon show Drake & Josh, no?  OK.  Let's apply that knowledge, however limited, right now.  Josh Peck, who plays [act surprised] Josh on the show, is in a new movie.  This is where you say something along the lines of: "Why would you be recommending a children's movie to me?  I got bills to pay, and cheap dates to smash on."  And I'd say to you, "Just watch:"

Don't know if you can tell from the trailer, but Josh sells weed.  In the '90's.  Yes, yes, I know.  But all things considered, it looks to be an interesting movie, with a decent cast.  The Wackness is out now, by the way, at your local indie film theatre.  Peep the official:

Hope you enjoy.

Oh, don't forget to catch the re-showing of CNN's Black in America segments. That's tonight [Saturday] at 8pm EST.

I do believe that is all. Until next time.

Socialite Sign-off...

Spike Lee

Now even though, in my personal moments where I have met "Your Favorite Filmmakers, Favorite Filmmaker," he has been anti-social...to say the least. Kinda can't blame the brother, imagine how many "good ideas" he gets on a regular basis. But this one, oh this one, takes the cake; can't say I didn't see it coming however.

At the Guggenheim Honors award festival, Sheldon felt it necessary to address the homie Tyler Perry. He is quoted as saying, "I’d love to see a great film about Martin Luther King,” Lee said. “But I can’t do everything." At this point he paused, let off a slick grin, because he knew what was to be said next would be timeless and great for ages to come. He would continue to say, "I gotta leave something for Tyler Perry...I made the movie Bamboozled, " as a somewhat sudoku style retort saying that who he feels is the modern master of the minstrel should take a stab at a, dare I say it, REAL MOVIE.

DAMN HAMMER, DON'T HURT 'EM!!!!

Well, can't say that I wasn't saying it a few years back...but I guess it takes a real O.G. to make the homies in the streets realize what's what.

Thanks to the homies at Silver Docs for the story.

Step Lightly

Back into it.

Asics Gel III x Alife
First colorway is the Grey Jawn, fresh. The second is the curry freshness, dopetastic. What's the Tagg? 189.01 off of www.wesoldout.com. I like the tag on the Curry ones, reminds me of a Manhattan Portage Bag. But I digress.

Here comes Nike SB's August Releases

Outside of the second and third jawns, I'm not really impressed by these recycled ass colorways. But if you're into it, rush to your local skateshop that offers SB and cop a few.

Moving on,

Here are the homies Alife again with the collab with Reebok. These are stain resistant. That doesn't mean you should go ape shit on them, but rest assured that you feet will remain fresh in tough conditions. Prices vary, they may be cheaper in stores than they are on the net.

Next, something that I count to be certified freshness....

The Air Sharkleys...Its no way you can tell me that these shits ain't on deck as FUCK. What? Them jawns go hella hard....About $85 on the tag...but first you gotta find them...and I have to secure my pair before I go tell...Sorry.

Doyouwantmore??!!?!?!??!

Some New Balance freshness for you, available via Atmos Tokyo, if you can read Japanese...if not, then the tag is about $100 for both of them.

Finally,

The Court Force High with the MILKY colorway...ouch...also on Atmos Tokyo, price tag at about $130

I think that's enough for right now...

I Put On For My City...

Since I tire of hearing everyone in Detroit complain about the fact that there "isn't anything to do here." Here is my attempt to break the monotony. This section is also open to those who live in supposedly hum-drum cities, feel free to email me with your hang out spots and I will do my best to put them up in a prompt manner. Email: sneakers.suits@gmail.com

With that being said.

Here are some put ons for those available in the Metro Detroit area.

Spectacles Detroit

230 E. Grand River Harmonie Park
Downtown Detroit

spectacles@comcast.net

Yo, little did I know. But this spot is definitely as old as me, in fact it is older than me by a year. Definitely a spot to check out, dope as hell. Its nestled into the same building as Wolverine Furs and right down the street from the new stadiums. They carry 10 Deep threads as well as Detroit lines and shirts that show off your Motor City pride. They also carry music and movies for those that are interested in the arts. More so, they support local acts and just so happen to put on local events that boast such DJ's as House Shoes...I'm sorry if you don't know who House is, you need to move from the D ASAP. More so, if you aren't even from here, you need to be put on to that man as well. Here, I will help. Definitely worth the patronage, cool ass peeps up in there.

For those of you who are more into what's the sway of fashion, this is the place for you. Immediately when you walk in you get a feeling of high urban fashion, think Pharrell, Kanye, Fergie, Gwen, etc. Soon as you walk in, you're greeted with kicks and jeans...my kind of spot...The owners, are yet again, mad chill. And if you shop for hella long, you can change and go right across to the clubs/restaurants/lounges located on or by Woodward or the Campus Martius area. You know what it is. Holla at the homies.

FOR SOME REASON CAN'T POST THE PICTURE BUT I DIGRESS....

Oslo Detroit
1456 Woodward
Detroit, Mi

Yea, you know that little spot that you always drive past on Woodward that you think isn't jack shit for some reason because it's only a small white building...yea, well...psych. Oslo is not only a Sushi Bar, but a Thai Restaurant, carries a few Singapore inspired dishes, Lounge, Bar, and Club all in one...and yes, it goes down. Located right below the main restaurant area lies the basement which is very spacious and houses events such as Hot, Buttered Soul regularly. More so, Oslo is the HOME of their infamous cocktail, the Space Odyssey 2001 (Which is not for the faint of livers). Did I mention that the food is bomb, definitely the chill spot of the year. You may see me in there more than a few times.

That's all I got for now, feel free to email the aforementioned email with your suggestions. Also if you are an establishment and you want to be mentioned on here, feel free to email. Like I said, I will answer and post as the time permits.
