SIA _ Breathe Me (Four Tet Remix)

If you enjoy music as much as I, you will enjoy this remix to a great SIA song. Click on the image to listen and download.

Thought I'd start your day off correct.

New Flavor: Melanie Fiona

I could talk your ear off about who she is and where she's from [Toronto], or...I could let you just listen:

Like?  Good.  Peep the live joints, though:

How's that make you feel?  Thought so.

Need something for the doggy bag?  I bring you her first single, "Give It To Me Right".  Clickity.

AND...in case you didn't know that was a sample:

No need to thank me; the first hit's always free.

Murph...

Kanye x VH1 Storytellers

Kanye performing "Stronger", from the VH1 Storytellers series:

Dope.  I tried everything in my power to get the mp3 for this, but...VH1's flash player is coded like a douche, sew...the vid will have to do.  The entire performance airs on VH1 Saturday [that's the 28th, and I don't mean March] at 9 pm Eastern.  Set your DVRs.  I already did.  I'm sure someone will rip the whole performance on audio too, so...wait for that.

I try to ignore sh!†, but...it keeps finding me.

I've tried to ignore this issue, but...it isn't going away anytime soon.  Interpret this however you like, before I add my twopence:

Yes, sew...Joaquin Phoenix [that'd be the bearded gent on the left] has retired from acting to start rapping.  In fact, he made his debut a month ago in Vegas:

Sounds pretty bad, right?  Well...in Phoenix's defense, he was drunk.  How drunk?  Drunk enough to fall off stage:

Yeah.

Phoenix has been asked repeatedly if this is a publicity stunt. His response:
"Might I be ridiculous? Might my career in music be laughable? Yeah, that's possible, but that's certainly not my intention."
Right.

In the first video above, Joaquin's decision is met with laughter, by Letterman and the audience alike.  Why?  Is the idea of a rap career now a punchline?  It wasn't a joke when Phoenix recorded the soundtrack for the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line.  And if it is a stunt, why does hip-hop have to be the gimmick?  Hasn't urban music suffered enough?

Don't know if it's a publicity stunt or not.  Don't care, frankly.  Put the mic down, homie [a colloquialism I apply loosely].  I'll leave the film puns to Bouier.

Jamie Foxx _ Blame It

This is pretty much the ONLY song that I like on the radio right now. By the way, this video is amazing, for the cameos alone (Son, is that Opie Taylor in the video?). AND, the video is comedic...in various ways. Oh, lest we forget that it is also TECHNICALLY sound.

New T.I. Mixtape.

Hey, don't know if you knew this, but T.I. is going to jail. Yes, it's true. No, I didn't see it coming, either. You'd think Clifford didn't know either, the way he's been scrambling to drop material. I thought that that's what Paper Trail was for [in my opinion, his best album since Urban Legend]. You'd think he was doing 5 to 10 or something, or that he's never done time before. But no, Cliff's been working on videos and tours...and mixtapes. Here's the cover art:

Whoa...that...how'd that get in there?

Not bad.

Peep the tracklisting:

01 Road to Redemption (Intro)
02 Party Ain’t A Party
03 Just Think f. Nas
04 Where I’m From
05 Goin Way Back
06 Do It To It
07 Boo f. 8Ball & MJG
08 Feelin You
09 Better Than This
10 Mind on My Money
11 Champ is Here f. Akon
12 Hero f. Akon
13 Turnin Me On
14 Daydreamin
15 Just Like Me
16 If I f. Justin Timberlake
17 Propane
18 Ain’t I (rmx)
19 Swagga Like Us (Live) f. Kanye West, Jay-Z & Lil Wayne
20 Gone Till November (Outro)

I mean, it's T.I., so it should be pretty decent. And he's going to jail, so...theoretically, he'd put more effort into it. But who am I to decide? Clickity. Seriously. He might shoot you.

Kid Cudi _ Day & Night Video

Told you.

murph-Edit:

Felt the need to point out that the imagery done at 2:37 is a nod to Prince's 1981 album, Controversy:

MF Doom x Dilla

Was hard-pressed to find a pic that hadn't been blogged to death. This will suffice. Prepping for his new album release, DOOM reworks Dilla's "Lightworks", which has always been my favorite Donuts track. Dope? You be the judge. Click the pic.

Burn it.

I have to concur. Two times.

KiDCuDi x Kanye West @ 106 & Park

Another fresh young upstart from Hipster-Hop/New Wave/prog hop/call it what you like. He and Kanye, his [co]signer to G.O.O.D. Music [still waiting for Big Sean, but *shhh*], drop "freestyles" on BET's flagship show. Does anyone really freestyle anymore? *SMH*

Peep Kanye drop the verse off of Officer Ross' upcoming album. The return to rap is appreciated, but a> I pray it's not Auto-Tuned; and b> That shag has GOT to go. Be ashamed.

Inglorious Bastards Trailer

Quentin Tarrantino is back at it. This would also explain why Brad Pitt has been rocking that Officer Dangle Mustache as of late.

Pause for Hiatus

Are we back? Possibly. Stay tuned.

Excuses for Hiatus:
Bouier - Filming, Writing, Grad Apps, Reading, Internship Apps, Bills, Life.
Murph - Couldn't tell you. But I'm sure he has them, and I'm sure they are good ones.

What we've experienced as of late:
Large quantities of apathy, disinterest, and anger. We've been having our discussions of the various entertainment industries/sub-sects. One or two, we may post.

When we return from the commercial break however, there will in fact be more madness, more freshness, more Sneakers more Suits.
