While back, I posted J. Cole's "Simba" video, and wasn't really sure who he was. Do I know more info now? Not really. He does have a mixtape out though:
Peep the tracklisting:
Oh, apparently, he's signed to Roc Nation, which is all you really need to know, I suppose.
If you liked the video I dropped, you should make this a priority.
Hey, don't know if you knew this, but T.I. is going to jail. Yes, it's true. No, I didn't see it coming, either. You'd think Clifford didn't know either, the way he's been scrambling to drop material. I thought that that's what Paper Trail was for [in my opinion, his best album since Urban Legend]. You'd think he was doing 5 to 10 or something, or that he's never done time before. But no, Cliff's been working on videos and tours...and mixtapes. Here's the cover art:
Whoa...that...how'd that get in there?
Not bad.
Peep the tracklisting:
01 Road to Redemption (Intro) 02 Party Ain’t A Party 03 Just Think f. Nas 04 Where I’m From 05 Goin Way Back 06 Do It To It 07 Boo f. 8Ball & MJG 08 Feelin You 09 Better Than This 10 Mind on My Money 11 Champ is Here f. Akon 12 Hero f. I mean, it's T.I., so it should be pretty decent. And he's going to jail, so...theoretically, he'd put more effort into it. But who am I to decide? Clickity. Seriously. He might shoot you.
You might remember a time when Royce & Budden were beefing. Not so much anymore. In fact, they, along with Joell Ortiz, and a few assorted rappers, are conspiring to drop a mixtape together. Catch 'em at Red Spyda's crib.
Why would a drummer drop a mixtape? Simply because you wouldn't. Peep:
Travis Barker x DJ AM - Fix Your Face
[Click the pic to download.]
Refurbished drums over hip-hop & rock favorites, and more scratching than a dermatologist's clinic. Revamps: Chemical Brothers, Jay-Z, Johnny Cash, Eazy-E, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Biggie, Michael Jackson, Kanye, Daft Punk, Timbaland, Lil Wayne, Billy Joel, DJ Assault, Damian Marley, Outkast, Rick Springfield, MIA, theme to Rocky, and countless others.
This would be the part where I give their back story, but...they've done that for me [sort of]:
One more vid. [You'll like this one more, I promise.]
Hollyweerd hails from the A, as mentioned in the first vid, and often record at Stankonia Studios. Peep the interview:
Did you like? Goody, because I bring goodies. As mentioned in the first and second vid, they dropped a mixtalbum [mixtape + album] semi-recently. Behold:
Oh, you can click that pic to get the mixtalbum. Go ahead...
Still a little apprehensive? Need more proof? Fair enough. Peep the audio link.
If you peeped the [long-ass] interview, you heard that Hollyweerd was originally a duo, and that Dreamer and Tuki started as solo artists. Sew...I bring additional treats for all. With a little finger grease [as in elbow grease, but for typing and clicking; try to keep up], I've managed to find material from Dreamer as a solo artist and Hollyweerd as a 2 man group. Let us go on...
Dreamer's eponymous solo album:
No, don't click that one for the download. It's good that you're paying attention, though. Here's the link.
In case you're wondering if the album is worth the download, I bring a snippet. Enjoy.
Beloved Bone-us Item? Yop-yop. So earlier, I mentioned Andre being sampled on the chorus of "The Art of Bowtie Pimpin". Figured it out? Maybe. It was part of his verse on the remix of "So Fresh So Clean", featuring Snoop Dogg and Sleepy Brown, from the soundtrack of Snoop's movie Bones. Don't be embarrassed if you don't remember the movie; you didn't miss much. In any event, I'd bring you the link for that joint, but I...cannot. So I'll bring the next best thing: an embedded version.
I'll have the download link for that next time, I promise and assure you, along with the various audio rips from the videos Bouier keeps linking. Slipping, yes, I know. But I've more than made up for it with this post alone, right? Good. So until next time, that's all, bipeds.
